Pulse Radio interview Luca Ballerini
Italian underground DJ and producer, Luca Ballerini, has been making waves internationally despite being a relatively new name to the scene. As he released his second EP on Sven Väth’s Cocoon imprint this week, Impressions of a Dawn (Alba in 4/4), we caught up with him over email to find out how it feels to be working with some of the biggest names in the game, his love of movies and his journey from a punter on the dancefloor to working the crowd from behind the booth.
After featuring on the annual Cocoon compilation, you now have another EP out now on Cocoon called Impressions Of A Dawn. Releasing on a label that’s famous for making careers, does it make you feel like you are on the cusp of something? Working with a big label such as Cocoon was certainly a very important step for me, which gave me many opportunities, such as getting myself known to a wider audience. I hope that our relationship will continue to grow and develop.
What is it like working with such a high profile and well-respected names, including Sven Väth and Dixon? Do you feel pressure to perform? A certain amount of pressure always exists, but I think it’s an important thing for an artist, it helps to stay focused and do as much as you can.
I understand you played at Cocoon in Formentera at Tipic. How was that? It was a great night! There was a very good vibe on the dancefloor and all the people involved in the party were very professional and friendly. I’d like to do it again!
You are a big movie fan. Do you see yourself ever scoring a soundtrack in the future? What would be your ideal kind of movie to write a soundtrack to? At the moment I am focused on producing my music, DJing and clubbing. I would definitely like to experience it in future, probably in a dystopian future movie like Blade Runner.
