Mixmag Premiere // Luca Ballerini ‘Hanami’ (Armonia Rosa)
When it comes to label compilations, the standard is heavily defined by the imprint involved. Just one glance at any of the Cocoon CDs and you know you’re onto a winner, especially when Papa Sven is at the helm.
Since the year 2000, Cocoon have released a yearly compilation that features the label’s favourite established artists as well up-and-coming talents that, more often than not, go onto big things.
This year sees the release of ‘O’ and you can look forward to brand new tracks from Tom Demac, Dana Ruh, Reset Robot and our favourite new producer, Luca Ballerini.
Ballerini may have only released a few tracks but every one has really hit the mark. His EP on Cocoon was a staple of Väth’s sets and once we premiered ‘Amore & Psiche’ on our SoundCloud, it was hammered the world over.
The super-talented Italian returns to Cocoon with ‘Hanami (Armonia Rosa)’ and it’s more of the gold standard techno we’ve come to expect. It’s a cosmic roller that gets bigger and bigger by using mystical chords, delicate melodies and amazing drive. It’s another banger from Cocoon and Ballerini, a combo we’re falling in love with.
